Professional Secondments

I have finally submitted what I am affectionally calling "Thesis Part One" and it’s corresponding journal. A response to my secondment period, as part of my Masters for Directing for Performance.

The secondments included:

  • EVITA

  • CAKE DADDY

  • MURIEL’S WEDDING

  • BARNUM: THE CIRCUS MUSICAL

  • IL VIAGGIO A REIMS

  • COME FROM AWAY

As I went through 120+ pages of handwritten notes, images of shows, programs and scripts, I was reminded of the many people that I met, observed in their professions and had the privilege of getting to know, as well as the wonderful experiences and rehearsal rooms I was able to witness. Now, finally having submitted the assignment requirements around the unit – the longest assignment I’ve ever written – and looking back on the period of time as a whole, it really strikes me how fortunate I've been to have been included on so many wonderful theatrical experiences. The opportunity to witness creatives I’ve admired for many years, from local heroes to international Tony and Olivier award winners, it’s been an incredible six months.

So to anyone who was a creative, part of one of the producing companies and their teams, a cast or crew member that welcomed, accommodated or included me over the eight months I spent as an intern – thank you. You contributed to me being the luckiest guy in theatre this year!

Now... time to hit the final semester and finish this Masters!
